The Nolita has no straight lines to speak of. The backrest sweeps round and down into the arms in a single movement, so instead of sitting against a chair you sit inside one. It is the kind of shape that works as well on its own in a bay window as it does paired beside a sofa.

Teddy boucle, and why it matters here

Boucle is a looped yarn rather than a flat weave, which is what gives the Nolita its dense teddy texture. On a curved frame that texture does real work — it catches light across the bends and keeps the silhouette legible rather than letting it read as one flat block of colour.

Cushioning

The seat and back are plushly filled and hold their shape, so the chair keeps its rounded profile rather than flattening with use. The curve of the back sits high enough to support the shoulders, which is what makes the Nolita comfortable for an evening rather than just a few minutes.

Two neutral colourways

• Koala — a soft mid grey that sits comfortably with cooler palettes and painted wood
• Latte — a warm oatmeal with a beige undertone, suited to warmer neutrals and natural timber

Both are deliberately quiet colours. An accent chair with a strong shape rarely needs a strong colour as well.

Living with bouclé

The looped yarn that gives bouclé its texture is also its weakness: it hides marks and creasing better than almost any other upholstery, and it snags on claws and sharp zips. If a loop pulls, ease it back with a blunt needle rather than cutting it. Vacuum with a soft brush head, never a beater bar.

Where an accent chair earns its place

An accent chair is not there to be the most comfortable seat in the room — it is there to stop a room reading as one matching set. Put it at an angle rather than square to the wall, and give it a lamp or a side table so it looks used rather than staged.

Delivered free to mainland England and Wales. We do not currently deliver to the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland or the offshore islands. Large upholstery is delivered in sections wherever the design allows, which makes a narrow hallway or a turn on the stairs far less of a problem.

Is it comfortable enough to sit in for a whole evening? For most people, yes, though a deep sofa will always win on a long evening.

Does it need assembly? The legs screw on. A few minutes.

Can it be used at a desk? It is a lounge chair rather than a working chair — the seat is too low and too soft for desk work.

Will it go with a leather sofa? Bouclé against leather is one of the easier contrasts to get right, because the textures are so different.
